Primitive Legacy

A primitive people

Once roamed this shore

This land was quietly owned

Lovingly embraced

The creatures respected

Natural resources godlike.

What remains of their path?

Shabby remnants!

Street names

City parks

Long-forgotten legends

Fill dusty books!

Where are their faces?

Their children?

Their tribe?

Their culture?

Relegated to small displays

Cornered in historical places

Quickly mentioned in cataloged tomes!

Where is their designated day?

A day to celebrate their contribution?

Their sacrifice?

What have we given to support their legacy?

Casinos.
