Addiction Manifesto

There is nothing more important

Not a person

Not a physical impediment

Not familial warnings

Not clinical outcomes

Not religious remembrances

Not criminal charges

Not legal proceedings

Not a lover’s embrace

No employment can sustain

No hope lasts

No lifestyle change tolerated

No terminal diagnosis frightens

No path to the drug too difficult

Young and old

Women and Men

Embrace their escape of choice

And succomb

In a flash

They succeed their final peace.
